Spoof Writer Captain America Had Starring Role In The Original 1960s ‘Gilligan’s Island’ Sitcom

a tale of a fateful trip,

that started from this tropic port,

aboard this tiny ship…….

To all fans of the popular television sitcom Gilligan’s Island, no one character had the mystic and adoring fan base as the character known as ‘The Professor.’
From fabricating a brassiere for Ginger from a pair of huge coconuts, to building a radio from bits of wire and an old coco-cola bottle, the Professor was the absolute brain trust of the show.

Actually, the Professor was quite the ladies man as well! Episode archives show our intellectual hero also was quite adapt at the horizontal mombo with Maryanne, Ginger the movie star, and Lovey Howell as well. He also was credited with making moonshine hooch for the Skipper and growing hydroponic pot for his assistant, now better known as Maryann the Pot Head.

Now, it can finally be revealed that our own spoof writer Captain America was the ‘Professor’ character on Gilligan’s Island.

“Yeah, it was me! At the time I needed the money, I wasn’t married, the pussy was free, and Maryann always gave a helping hand when it was needed!” Claimed ‘the Cap’ in his 2007 memoirs ‘My Life as a Cheesy TV Star.’

A reunion show is planned in 2012, where ‘the Cap’ will re-create his starring role for modern audiences. He has asked various other spoof writers to fill in for some of the original cast who are no longer with us. According to the show’s publicist, the Professor will again re-create the coconut shell brassiere episode for a new Ginger played by Kim Kasardian. Details supposedly are coming soon.
