Several students at George Mason University (GMU) signed a petition on Wednesday demanding lawmakers legalize “fourth trimester” abortions.

The petition, which was circulated on GMU’s flagship campus in Fairfax, VA., just outside Washington D.C., by an undercover reporter. He told students the petition was aimed at sending “a message to our lawmakers that women have the right to choose what to do with their bodies and babies” even “after their pregnancies.”

“If you don’t know what fourth trimester is, it’s after the baby is already born,” the reporter voiced over in the video showing him collecting the signatures.

“Currently fourth trimester abortions are illegal in all 50 states,” he told students before asking them to sign his petition.

Most student responses varied from “okay” to “cool.”

One concerned student asked if the procedure would “cause harm to the child.”

“Well the child wouldn’t be there anymore,” responded the reporter. “It’s abortion and that’s pretty final.”

That student then signed the petition.

The second question he asked was about government providing abortions at federal clinics to any citizen for free. All GMU participants agreed that the government should fund the free abortions for women even though the waiting period is about 18 months.

The reporter said that after one hour he was able to garner fourteen signatures. Several asked if they could ‘sign twice.’

“That is a lot for the summer because there aren’t as many people on campus,” he said in the video. GMU usually has a summer enrollment of about 25 students.

“George Mason students are noted for not being too bright,” said university professor Gill Malcom-Jones who claims 99.9% of his students fail when he administers a simple ethics quiz.
