Where Art Thou Millennials?

Rep. Edward Dingleberry (R- MD) says even though he's served in Congress since 1961 he still has his hand on the pulse of American youth. It must be true because last week Ed was arrested after groping a high school girl working a charity car wash event. Ed claims he was merely looking for his wallet.

Millennials, Generation X, Generation Y and late Baby Boomers have let the likes of aged US Senate and House of Representatives members of both parties kill the American dream and lead them around like sheep!

These fossil politicians belong to previous generations that cannot relate to younger Americans. The Founding Fathers did not envision a Congress consisting of previous generation’s members telling a new generation’s progeny how to live their lives.

There are 70 and 80 years of age politicians sitting in the same seats for 25 or more years elected by people long retired. The US Senate has 59% of its members over 60 years of age and the US House of Representatives has 41% of its members over 60 years of age. Many US industries have a mandatory retirement age of 65, but not the US Congress. That is not to say that a clunker or two under 60 years of age doesn’t exist!

“If you like 73 years of age politicians such as 27 year Senate Majority Leader Reid (D-NV) and 26 year Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) you can keep them.” But they are out of touch with reality and if newer generations want more libertarian politicians that think like they do, then they must get out and be active. Younger voters should not have to accept the same retread politicians every election cycle from either the Democrats or Republicans.

Serious consideration should also be given to realistic term limits for members of each of the two chambers of Congress. The US Republic will prosper with each infusion of new thinking by people who desire to see a smaller sized federal government function in accordance with the US Constitution!

Millennials and others must become politically active by losing their apathy to participate in politics; use email, twitter and cell phones to lambast Congress on policies they disagree with; and utmost of all vote the old fossils out of office.
