An 8 September Satireworld story** about ‘what really goes down the pan’ at the US ambassador’s residency in London saw Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad pictured flushing US dollar bills down the guest room toilet.
Today that stark image – as featured in Tehran’s ‘Mullah Today Magazine’ – is at the core of a £1.65billion Iranian police bust in what’s been dubbed the country’s biggest ever financial fraud…since the last one.
Widespread media reports allege nineteen people have been arrested in a scam that used sophisticated forgery methods to access bank credits ahead of a massive, felonious spending binge; acquisitions included major state-owned companies such as the Khuzestan Steal (sic) Company and huge blocks of voting shares in the First Fundamentalist Bank of Chicago Inc.
Today a number of Western newspapers have named President Ahmadinejad protégé Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei as one of those arrested in a move ‘not exactly denied’ by the Presidential Palace.
“Mashaei has been to Ahmadinejad what Rahm Emanuel was to Barack Obama,” a Satireworld source commented this morning.
“As Presidential Chief-of-Staff he got to emulate his Western counterparts – and may have just got unlucky following the publication of the Satireworld pix.”
