Saudi Woman Tortured And Murdered — Cops Suspect Magic Genie

Saudi police strongly believe the victim just 'rubbed the lamp the wrong way.'

A Saudi woman said to be haunted by jinn (Genie spirits) beat and tortured herself for hours with fire until she fell unconscious and died later at hospital.

The 40-year-old woman was admitted with severe burns and injuries to King Fahd hospital in the western town of Madina and doctors said they tried in vain to save her life.

“We have determined that the woman beat herself up and tortured herself with fire because she is gripped by jinn,” police spokesman Colonel Abdullah Al Sarani told the Saudi Arabic language daily Okaz.

“Investigation showed the other members of her family are also controlled by jinn…we closed the case as no criminal act is involved.”

The woman’s husband Ali Babba Al Sarani, claims he found her in the bedroom with a bloody chain in her hand and empty gasoline cans strewn around the room. He also claims to have found a antique oil lamp that his wife often rubbed, but declined to show authorities where he disposed of the item. Babba was later officially cleared of any ‘jinn possession,’ by his brother Colonel Abdullah Al Sarani.

Ali Babba Al Sarani thanked all who helped with the investigation and boarded a flight headed to Zurich where he planned to meet with his wife’s insurance company who were holding a check for him.
