Meet Chasworth A. Rodham.
Mr Rodham has an interesting lineage. For the better part of the 20th century 89 year Mr. Rodham has lived with a story that only now has come to light in a book authored by him with the help of his grandson Elmer Longtree. ‘Being Owned By Hillary’ is a 235 page book which traces the Rodham family roots back to South Carolina to a small plantation owned by the relatives of the present Hillary Rodham Clinton, a 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate.

In the book Mr. Rodham speaks of long hours in the fields and bleak accommodations in the ‘quarters’ that were supplied by the plantation owner Gladstone ‘Boss’ Rodham. “They all slept on cork husk mattresses and used down-filled potato sacks as pillows,” he recalled in an opening passage about daily slave life on the plantation.

The 7,000 acre Rodham plantation farmed cotton, peanuts, corn, and a variety of pumpkins and watermelons. According to Chasworth, the slaves rarely received any watermelon as the harvest was limited and the demand high from northern buyers.

“Sometime my Grand Mammy June would trick the kids into eating well water cooled cucumbers telling them they was baby watermelons. It wasn’t until LaShonda the oldest was 18 that she realized the trick being played on her.”

Rodham also recalls the time his great grandmother told him about being whipped by Clarance the mean overseer-er who got some kinda pleasure out of using a leather cat-o-nine tails on those who appeared to be slagging off while picking cotton. Chasworth claims ‘he inherited some of the scars’ which look suspiciously like handcuff and leg shackle marks from his brief stays in Joliet Federal Prison back in 1966.
