The staff and writers over at Satire World are living it up with the announcement of substantial bonuses and a hard sought after international award. The award winning site was announced in early March and the actual award was presented to editor Bargis Tryhol at a star-studded event held in Brooklyn, New York. Over 300 invitees attended the event at the Nathan’s Hot Dog factory employee ballroom this past Sunday evening. Numerous celebrities and political notaries were present at the 17th annual award presentation hosted by Dan Rather and Mika and Joe from MSNBC news.

According to Entertainment Tonight, many celebrities plan to attend next year citing the food and fun was so refreshing.

The Golden Douchebag Awards were started 17 years ago as a means to celebrate ‘fake news writing.’ Previous winners were The Onion, MSNBC, CNN, and the UK’s The Spoof.

The 2017 runner’s up were The Barbed Wire, The Onion, Lou’s Tabloid Nonsense, and Big Hairy News reporter Scooter Van Neuter who received honorable mention and a Burger King gift certificate.
